an out-of-signal TV hissing in the living room late at night
Farol Santander
Farol Santander brings together artists who work with textures of images that move between the digital and the artisanal. On one hand, we have the presence of historical artists who experimented with the technological limits of the 1980s in media such as television, projectors, and satellites. Meanwhile, we also have a younger generation that has delved into digital manipulation, mechatronics, and the use of computer graphics to fabulate worlds and look at themselves existentially. Other artists use artisanal techniques like drawing, weaving, and sculpture but are also interested in how images can suggest metamorphoses.
Like the sound of television static, we are interested in the supposed cacophony between these researches. If we focus on this noise, perhaps we will conclude that there is more harmony among these artists than initially seemed to exist—we go from the woven point to the pixel and vice versa.
