Museu do Trabalho
The clock is one of the most direct symbols of the passage of time, representing how we try to measure, organize, and understand something that, in practice, flows continuously and irreversibly. Its hands dictate a precise rhythm, creating a sense of control but also reinforcing the inevitability of time, which never stops advancing.
After seven years, Rochelle Costi's work Passatempo returns to the Museu do Trabalho—now on its facade—and invites us to reflect on the passage of time and memory. This Estalo symbolizes those brief moments when time seems to accelerate or change rhythm—a memory resurfacing, an unexpected discovery, or the feeling that something has transformed. Reassembling this work by an artist of such importance—not only in the Brazilian art scene and the city of Porto Alegre but also internationally—is our way of paying tribute to her memory.
